Vermont Thai is on the corner of Burwood Highway and Hanover road, just near the Vermont South shopping centre. I meet my friend JK there for an early dinner one Monday night.

It was very quiet, but it was a Monday.

The tables are already set with entree and main plates and one of mine had a chip in it.

We started with a serve of curry puffs.

Good, but not great. Less pastry and more filling would be better.

We shared two mains and also ordered a serve of roti bread.

The roti was good but the sauce had a weird taste.

The first main dish was a noodle dish (sorry, can’t remember its name, and it is not on the take-away menu I have). With all the currys, noodle dishes and stir frys, you select the dish and then the protein to go in it. We chose chicken with the noodles.

It looked quite small, especially for the price, but was bigger than it looked, and the noodles were underneath. It had lots of vegies and this was my favourite main dish.

The second main dish was Pad Krapao (stir fried fresh vegetables, basil leaves and fresh chilli), and we decided on pork with this one.

More vegies which was good and I really liked the sauce but thought the pork was a bit tough.

We didn’t finish either main dish so I have no issue with the serving size.

The service was polite and our water glasses were kept topped up.

Would I go back? Probably not, as I have better Thai closer to home, but it is convenient for after work or lunch as it is only just up the road from my day job.

I always like the *idea* of build-your-own (protein/sauce/etc) dishes, but for some reason they never seem to live up to my hopes. But hey, at least the sauce on yours was nice!
